If there is anything in this new season that God has been speaking to us is this….His ways are not our ways! His ways are so much grander!
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Our journey to Milton has been nothing short of the biggest trust walk we have been on!
Many of you know that we have a heart for missions, particularly Honduras. Our long- term vision for Jack and I was to eventually be full – time missionaries in Honduras. We had a trajectory of five years. It’s kinda one of those things where we have our own plans but God kinda smiles and then shows us His plan.
“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”
One day Jack and I were out on a run and we had received an email from our church. They were doing a round table to talk and discover about a potential Lewisville campus, immediately we felt excitement and a heart tug! It was shortly after that when we both heard “your Honduras is actually in your own back yard”. Ok, seriously when you and your husband hear the same thing from God and it looks completely different from what you think, it takes some time to sink in….at our church we have a saying that our family really does. Ask, listen and respond – In several ways God started revealing to us that this was indeed our next step. Long story short, we asked, and listened….it was time to respond! On Good Friday we looked at seven houses! Several of the houses border lined Flower Mound or Highland Village….we knew that God wanted us in the heartbeat right smack dab in the center of Lewisville. The last house that our realtor showed us that “Good Friday” was the framework of a house being built in….you guessed it! Old Town Lewisville!!! As we walked into the framework of what would be our soon to be house we all experienced the same thing! Goosebumps head to toe the Holy Spirit fell on each of us! We walked the neighborhood and met some of the neighbors and immediately knew that THIS was our place!!! As we were walking back to the framed house, our realtor asked us to stand in front of the house so she could capture this moment. She said this would be a day we would NEVER want to forget….ok so, we left the house and went home and took that night to pray about it and then proceeded to put an offer on the house the next morning. A house we had no idea what it would look like or if we would even have a say in what it would look like! But, when you hear God and you know without a shadow of a doubt that this is what He is asking – you OBEY! Oh yeah, we hadn’t even actually put our own house on the market quite yet…..2 weeks later it went live on the market and sold in two days!!!
God cares about the details! From selling our house to the perfect people who would allow us extra time to get through graduation, to being “homeless” for a few weeks because the house wasn’t quite ready for us to live in and providing friends who would be out of town the very same time we needed a place to stay! The day we moved into our house it took us less than an hour to move in all of our belongings because of our awesome community of family and friends! God cares about the details! I can’t say this enough. When times got stressful and we would become doubtful God would give us little glimmers of hope and encouragement for us to remember why we’re doing this. The key is to go back, go back and remember the marker stone of what God did and why we are following Him.
In a couple of weeks we will be in our house for three months! God has been so sweet to us and has shown us that we are exactly where He wants us…. Even though we are only six miles away from our other house there is a significant difference in the people, the houses, the lifestyles and the community. We have met many new neighbors and friends and everyday is an adventure to listen, learn and love. To show love on display! This is where we are finding our joy! Language tries to be a barrier however; The Holy Spirits language is far greater than ANY language barrier! Perhaps we don’t need language to communicate after all. Stepping out of our comfort zone hasn’t been easy but stepping into obedience and Gods plan has been amazing! We are experiencing His joy in abundance through radical obedience!
Our prayer for you is if God is asking something of you that seems crazy or like it would be a huge step of faith, ask, listen and respond…..He gives us good things and when He asks us to release those good things because He has something so much greater in store for us than we would’ve imagined!! Now that we are settled in, we wonder why didn’t we do this sooner…Again, God’s timing is not our timing, His ways are not our ways. We wouldn’t have been ready….We are ready today!
We share what God is doing in our lives in hopes that it may speak to your heart, bring encouragement or build your faith! Thank you for following our crazy adventures with life on Milton!!! Enjoy some pictures of some of our new friends!

““But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
