“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” Psalm 84:10
You know that feeling of when you absolutely know without a shadow of a doubt that you are exactly where God wants you to be….like, you don’t question it anymore, you actually embrace it and love it at all at the same time.
This neighborhood- a melting pot, a diversity that was so close to us but we had what you would call “blinders” on. As we settle in each and every day God continues to remove more and more of the blinders. You see we are all “same-same” there is no “them” or “different”. If there is, then I am “them” or I am “different”. We are all His chosen ones. He calls us to love each other relentlessly! The word relentlessly means to do something in an unceasingly intense way. He loves us relentlessly! He never ceases to chase after us, ALL of us! There is not one person that He is not pursuing. His love floods into our hearts, nourishes our spirits then comes out in our actions. We fill with His love so that we can spill with love.
Lately, He has been showing us that we are exactly where He wants us to be! We have made new friends and our relationships with people are evolving into family! We continue to wait in anticipation for more and more. Who could ever have enough friends, right???
During this weekends message our pastor said this and it really hit home, “I would rather be in the desert with God, than be in the promise land without him.”
One thing I know is true, I would rather be anywhere WITH God than without Him! I don’t think we could ever fathom what He would do in our hearts and lives here on Milton Street….better is one day in HIS courts, than a thousand elsewhere!!!
This new year is a year of being intentional, embracing the present and to be more aware of the needs of others….whether that be of each other, family, friends, neighbors, strangers. To love (an action) to put into motion. Y’all, love moves!!! Let’s love Jesus, ourselves, and our peeps!
I’ll leave you with this.
“Love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.” 1 John 4:19 MSG
“The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.” 1 John 4:20-21 MSG
